FAQs

What is the attire?

Think cocktail attire with a twist! Dress to express. Bright colors, sparkles, sequins, feathers, traditional cultural attire—it’s all fair game. Want to go all out? This is truly the time. Rock that glam gown and feather boa from the Great Gatsby party you wore once, or finally debut your space cowboy dream look.

Not really into dressing up? That is totally fine. A nice shirt and pants, a breezy dress, or anything else cocktail attire-related works perfectly. No pressure—just come to have a good time.

Is there transportation to and from the venue?

Yes! Our wedding venue is on the outskirts of Helsinki, so you can either travel there yourself by train/taxi or you can sign up for a shuttle bus. More information will be shared the summer regarding pickup location and time. For friends in Finland, there is a large parking lot available with free parking spaces if you would like to drive to Hirvihaaran.

The shuttle bus back to Helsinki will leave at 2am, when the official party ends. If you would like to leave before that (for example at 11pm when the band ends) we recommend pre-booking a taxi to pick you up! You can either take a taxi back to Helsinki or to the Mäntsälä train station, where a train departs every hour.

Can I RSVP online or do I have to mail in a card?

You can mail in a card, but we prefer online RSVPs, so that you have access to the full list of questions (such as meal preference, dietary restrictions, and song requests). You can RSVP here via English or Finnish.

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors? What weather should I expect?

The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors and the reception will be at the same venue, but indoors. Typically the weather in September is very lovely: sunny during the day, with a slight autumn chill at night. It usually isn’t very rainy during September, so hopefully we have good luck with that! The sun will set around 9pm.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Yes! There is a ramp into the reception space and a lift up and down to the restrooms.

I’ve never been to Helsinki, how many days should I come for?

Helsinki is a more relaxed capital city of Europe. There are many museums to visit, but the best part of Helsinki is walking in nature, exploring the shore line, and relaxing in a sauna! We recommend to take at least two full days in Helsinki and one full day to take a ferry trip down to Tallinn. If you have more time, there are wonderful other places to explore in southern Finland - or you can travel through the Nordics and Baltics!
